1B in the Andre Walker system
Our quiz is loosely based on the original Andre Walker system created in the 1990s. It has a lot of flaws but it is still the most popular hair typing system. It is based on characteristics of hair. The Walker system defines 1B as Straight medium-diameter hair.

1b to 1c in the Common system
The common hair typing system is one you might see on social media. It involves comparing your hair's appearance to a chart. We'd don't use this system because people usually have multiple curl patterns. For example you may have patterns ranging from 1b to 1c depending on if there is a slight wave

Your hair does not have any curls or waves
Shrinkage
Your hair is the same length wet or dry.
Strand Thickness
Your hair is about average in thickness, neither fine nor thick(coarse)
Curvature
Your hair is straight or almost straight
Volume
Your hair has some volume, especially towards the ends. Volume can be enhanced with root clipping, pixie diffusing, and avoiding heavy products
Shapes
Your hair is straight and doesn't have much or any wave
Tangling
Your hair is isn't prone to tangles and is relatively easy to detangle
